Phone booths and meeting pods for coworking spaces
Coworking members expect to be able to take a call. When every call happens at a hot desk or in the hallway, the open area gets loud, and the bookable meeting rooms fill up with one person on a video call. Phone booths and small meeting pods move those conversations into closed spaces on the floor you already have.
This page covers which QAkustik models suit a coworking floor, how to combine them, and what to plan when you equip one or several locations.
Last reviewed:
- Phone booth from
- €2,750
- 6-person meeting pod from
- €8,480
- EU lead time
- 2–4 weeks
- Assembly
- about 90 min per unit
Who this is for
- Coworking and flex-office operators who want to add call space without rebuilding.
- Operators with several locations who want the same booth across sites.
- Business centres and landlords adding shared amenities to multi-tenant floors.
- Companies running their own hot-desking floor with coworking-style booking.
What goes wrong without call space
- Calls at hot desks disturb neighbours who came to work quietly.
- Meeting rooms are blocked by single people on video calls, so teams cannot find a room.
- Members have nowhere private for confidential calls, such as job interviews, client talks or calls with a doctor.
- Layouts change as membership changes, and fixed drywall rooms are expensive to move.
A sensible mix of models
Most coworking floors need many short calls and a few small meetings. A practical mix is several one-person booths near the open desks plus one or two meeting pods for two to six people.

Installation and rollout
- Power: the pods plug into a normal wall socket; no hardwired connection is needed. Plan the position close to a socket so no cable crosses a walkway.
- Ventilation: sensor-controlled fans and sound-trapped air channels supply fresh air while the door is closed. Fan and connection details per model are listed in the technical specifications.
- Fire safety: material classes under EN 13501-1 are MDF B-s2,d0, fabric and mineral wool A2-s1,d0, plus laminated safety glass. The fire class documentation ships with each unit.
- Permits and escape routes: pods are usually treated as movable furniture rather than construction, but local rules apply. Agree the position with whoever is responsible for fire safety in the building: a pod must not block escape routes or sprinkler coverage.
- Delivery and assembly: panels arrive flat-packed and pass standard 90 cm doorways. A typical unit is assembled on site in about 90 minutes without building work. Check stairs and lifts against the dimensions overview.
- Lead time and regions: 2–4 weeks across the EU for standard models; larger formats are confirmed per project. Delivery covers the EU27 and EFTA; the UK via a local partner, confirmed per project.
- Warranty: 3 years on structure and electronics.
- Several locations: one quote can cover several sites. Delivery and installation are confirmed per destination, and you can keep the same model and finishes everywhere.
- Brand look: fabrics and frame colours can be chosen to match your interior. Use the configurator on each product page.
- Booking: if members book rooms through your coworking software, list the meeting pods there like any other room.
What to expect acoustically
QAkustik office pods provide 35 dB (Rw) ±3 dB sound insulation. Rw is the weighted sound reduction index, so compare it with Rw values from other suppliers. Test reports are available.
Test reports are available. An on-site measurement dated 22 April 2025 of a QAkustik cabin installed in a meeting room gave DnT,w 36 and 38 dB, DnT,A 34 and 35 dB, depending on the direction. The full context is in the buying guide.
In everyday terms: a normal speaking voice inside the pod is strongly reduced outside, but no booth is soundproof. A raised voice, laughter or music will still be noticeable.
How to plan
- Watch where calls happen today: hallways, kitchens and stairwells show where booths are needed.
- Place one-person booths close to the open desks, so members do not have to walk far for a call.
- Use meeting pods to relieve your most-booked rooms rather than adding them at random.
- Check the delivery route and floor space with the dimensions overview.
- Send us your city or cities, quantities, the site type "Coworking" and your target month.
Frequently asked questions
How many phone booths does a coworking space need?
There is no fixed ratio that fits every space. Start from what you see: how many members take calls in hallways at peak times and how often meeting rooms are blocked by one person. Begin with that number of booths and add more; standard models have a 2–4 week lead time in the EU.
Tokyo or Berlin for coworking members?
Q Pod Tokyo (from €2,750) is for calls and takes the least floor space. Q Pod Berlin (from €3,600) fits an office chair and has a desk, USB and Ethernet, so it is better for members who work in the booth for longer.
Can we move the pods when the layout changes?
Yes. The pods are free-standing, plug into a normal socket and need no building work, so they can move with your floor plan. Tell us if you plan a move so we can advise on dismantling and reassembly of larger units.
Do we need a permit to install pods?
Usually not: pods are generally treated as movable furniture. Local rules still apply, and pods must not block escape routes or sprinkler coverage. EN 13501-1 fire class documentation ships with each unit.
Can you deliver to several locations?
Yes, within the EU27 and EFTA, and to the UK via a local partner. One quote can list several sites; delivery and installation are confirmed per destination.
Can we match the pods to our interior?
Yes. Fabrics and frame colours are chosen per order. You can try combinations in the configurator on each product page.
