Quiet booths for museums, galleries and cultural venues

Exhibition halls are full of sound, and listed buildings rarely allow new walls. A freestanding pod gives staff and visitors a quiet room that you can place, move or remove without touching the building.

  • No building work, so the fabric of the building stays untouched
  • Glass doors keep the hall open and easy to supervise
  • Exterior and felt colours chosen to suit your interior

Typical situations in cultural venues

Every venue is different, but these questions come up in most projects.

1

Calls in a hall that echoes

The situation

Front-of-house and curatorial staff take calls in corridors or stairwells, where every word carries into the galleries.

How a pod helps

A one-person booth near the office area gives them a closed space for calls. Speech inside is strongly reduced outside: 35 dB (Rw) ±3 dB, test reports available.

2

Listening and recording stations

The situation

Oral history projects, audio guides and podcasts need a quiet spot, but a recording studio is out of budget.

How a pod helps

A pod can serve as a listening or interview booth inside the exhibition. For music or serious recording, our vocal booth offers 45–50 dB (Rw).

3

Protected or listed buildings

The situation

New partitions in a historic building need approvals, time and money.

How a pod helps

The pods stand on their own feet and plug into a normal wall socket. Panels arrive flat-packed, pass 90 cm doors and a unit is assembled in about 90 minutes.

4

Fire safety and visitor routes

The situation

Anything placed in a public hall is checked against escape routes and fire load.

How a pod helps

Material classes under EN 13501-1 (MDF B-s2,d0, fabric and mineral wool A2-s1,d0, laminated safety glass) are documented with every unit. More in our fire safety guide.

Frequently asked questions

Do we need a permit to place a pod in a listed building?

Pods are usually treated as movable furniture, not as construction, because nothing is fixed to walls, floors or ceilings. Local rules still apply, so check the position with your conservation and fire safety contacts.

Can visitors use the booths?

Yes. Many venues use a booth for audio content or video calls with visitors. All models have a glass door, so staff can see who is inside.

Can we move a pod for a new exhibition?

Yes. A pod can be unplugged and moved, and it can be taken apart and set up again in another room. Tell us before a larger move so we can advise on dismantling.
